Peer-to-Peer (P2P) File Sharing Explained
This tool uses WebRTC technology to create a direct, secure connection between your browser and the receiver's browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server. Because there is no central server, you need to manually help the browsers find each other by exchanging connection codes.
- The Sender selects a file and clicks "Generate Share Code". This creates the first code (an "offer").
- The Sender copies this code and sends it to the Receiver using any method (email, chat, etc.).
- The Receiver pastes the code into their panel and clicks "Connect". This generates a second code (an "answer").
- The Receiver copies their response code and sends it back to the Sender.
- The Sender pastes the Receiver's code into the final field and clicks "Finalize Connection".
- The connection is now established! The Sender can now send the file directly to the Receiver.
