Peer-to-Peer (P2P) File Sharing Explained

This tool uses WebRTC technology to create a direct, secure connection between your browser and the receiver's browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server. Because there is no central server, you need to manually help the browsers find each other by exchanging connection codes.

  1. The Sender selects a file and clicks "Generate Share Code". This creates the first code (an "offer").
  2. The Sender copies this code and sends it to the Receiver using any method (email, chat, etc.).
  3. The Receiver pastes the code into their panel and clicks "Connect". This generates a second code (an "answer").
  4. The Receiver copies their response code and sends it back to the Sender.
  5. The Sender pastes the Receiver's code into the final field and clicks "Finalize Connection".
  6. The connection is now established! The Sender can now send the file directly to the Receiver.
