What is Mouse Tracking?
Mouse tracking is a user experience (UX) research technique that records the mouse movements of website visitors. The collected data is often visualized as a "heatmap," which uses color to show where users moved their cursors the most.
Why is it Useful?
Understanding User Attention: Heatmaps reveal which parts of a page attract the most visual attention, as eye movement and mouse movement are often correlated.
Improving Usability: By seeing where users hesitate, or where they click on non-clickable elements, designers can identify and fix confusing parts of an interface.
Optimizing Conversions: Businesses use heatmaps to see if users are noticing important calls-to-action (like "Buy Now" or "Sign Up" buttons) and optimize their placement.
